Musical America’s 2019 Vocalist of the Year, Anthony Roth Costanzo is one of today’s most compelling performing artists. The countertenor is as much at home in the world of contemporary music as in the baroque and classical repertoire. He has recently sung such iconic roles of his vocal type as Apollo (Britten: Death in Venice), the Angel (Kaija Saariaho: Only the Sound Remains), Akhnaten (Philip Glass), and Prince Go-Go (Ligeti: Le Grand Macabre). His memorable performances of Handel characters include the title role of Julius Caesar in Egypt, and Armindo in Partenope. Appearing now as a guest of György Vashegyi and his ensembles, he selects from roles that spotlight his versatility as a performer.
