The first ever film in Seto – an ethnic minority of Southeast Estonia – recounts the legend of Hilana Taarka. Born to poverty in 1856, she always stood out and gained fame by the power of her singing – but never won the love of her native community. Her talent was discovered by the folk revivalist movement, she became the embodiment of the Seto, and of Estonian identity rooted in singing, she died rejected still.
