The folk traditions associated with the Easter period are extremely diverse. The programme of this evening, created by Márta Sebestyén, winner of the Kossuth and UNESCO Prizes, and Judit Andrejszki, a laureate of the Liszt Prize, draws on both written sources and gems handed down in the oral tradition, and focuses on the sacredness of the festival. Márta Sebestyén has been one of the most authentic ambassadors of the Hungarian folk music heritage for decades, and Judit Andrejszki is an accomplished interpreter of the centuries-old tradition of art music, both as a singer and harpsichordist. These distinguished artists began exploring the common roots of folk and baroque music nearly twenty years ago, and at their concerts they like to evoke the great Christian festivals of the Advent, Christmas and, of course, Easter. The concert also features some outstanding players of folk and early music.
This concert of the Bartók Spring is presented by Müpa Budapest as a joint event with Pesti Vigadó.
