The folk traditions associated with the Easter period are extremely diverse. Drawing on both written sources and gems handed down in the oral tradition, the rich repertoire of Márta Sebestyén, winner of the Kossuth and UNESCO Prizes, and Judit Andrejszki, a laureate of the Liszt Prize, showcases the beauty of Hungary’s musical heritage. Márta Sebestyén has been one of the most authentic ambassadors of Hungarian folk music for decades, while Judit Andrejszki is an accomplished interpreter of the centuries-old tradition of art music, both as a singer and harpsichordist. These wonderful artists have been exploring the natural connections between folk music and early music, demonstrating in their performances how the two intertwine, whether in secular or religious contexts. Their Easter show will be yet another case in point. The concert also features some outstanding players of folk and early music.
This concert of the Bartók Spring is presented by Müpa Budapest as a joint event with Pesti Vigadó.
