The second day of the Showcase starts in a mood very typical of the festival, with music born from the meeting of distant lands. Together, the Hungarian Haldamas and the Polish Hulajdusza set out to find a musical lingua franca – one that connects Krakow and Budapest, and has folk music at its core, while also being sensitive to the influences of jazz and contemporary music. Deeply vibrating throat singing, shaman drums, repetitive verses, farkaš tambura: these are some of the key ingredients of Vuk’s imaginative music. LELÉKA from Berlin clad purely scintillating Ukrainian folk songs in sophisticated, jazzy costumes. This is some delicate music for dreaming, connecting or creating; never intrusive, it is imperceptibly mesmerizing.

These concerts of the Bartók Spring are presented by Müpa Budapest as a joint event with Hangvető.
