The world-famous Batsheva Ensemble is back in Budapest. With one of their most influential productions, which they have kept on the repertoire for over fifteen years, choreographer Ohad Naharin created a heady brew of power, speed and passion, making an enthusiastic American critic call the dancers the acrobats of God. The production has changed and developed a lot over the years. Naharin thinks this is a natural process, and is as important as the creative period that preceded the premiere.
The performance consists of three separate parts. The first (Bellus) is based on the compositions of Bach, the second (Humus) on the music of Ohad Fishof, and the third (Secus) is a musical collage reflecting the world of our time. A Swedish critic wrote over ten years after the world premiere: “Three is astonishing for its richness of movement. And as is typical of choreographer Ohad Naharin, the human appears in all its complexity, strength and vulnerability.”
This performance of the Bartók Spring is presented by Müpa Budapest as a joint event with National Dance Theatre.
