As the ‘birthplace of blues and jazz’ comes under jihadist attack, musicians, the bearers of Mali’s invaluable heritage, are also exposed. Mali Blues follows Fatoumata Diawara, the young shooting star of the global pop scene, the resilience of Mali’s musical culture and its brave artists. The film features world famous ngoni player and traditional Griot Bassekou Kouyaté, street rapper Master Soumy and Tuareg band leader Ahmed Ag Kaedi.
German-Malian documentary with English and Hungarian subtitles
The screening is jointly presented by Müpa Budapest and Hangvető in the framework of the Bartók Spring.
