Kossuth Prize winner Yvette Bozsik’s new production explores, through the lenses of three choreographers, the three phases of man’s psychological and intellectual development, some defining life events that are associated with three different ages. As it represents inner processes, the dance drama is centred around the possibility of exposing and analysing one’s own childlike self, its experiences and injuries. How can we give it all that it was once deprived of; provide what neither the family nor the environment gave it? The concept of the director is based on the idea that coming into contact with one’s childhood self is a poignant, cathartic and liberating experience. The production features three generations of dancers, who meet on both physical and spiritual planes and walk the paths of their lives, while meeting their helpers and tempters, eventually confronting themselves at the end.
This performance of the Bartók Spring is presented by Müpa Budapest as a joint event with the National Dance Theatre.
